The 6Fr BALLARD™ Neo/Paed Closed Suction Catheter by Avanos is expertly designed for neonatal and pediatric patients who require mechanical ventilation. This innovative device allows for effective in-line suctioning of airway secretions without the need to disconnect the patient from the ventilator. By maintaining positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), it significantly reduces the risk of infection and alveolar collapse.

• Size and Material: The catheter features a 6 French diameter and a length of 30.5 cm (12 inches). Made from soft, latex-free PVC, it minimizes tracheal trauma with its rounded, atraumatic tip.

• Design: Equipped with a tactile sleeve for controlled advancement, the catheter includes numbered and color-coded depth markings for precise placement. A black tip provides visual confirmation after suctioning.

• System Configuration: Available with various configurations such as Y-adapter, Elbow adapter, and Multi-Access, it is compatible with endotracheal tube adapters ranging from 2.5 mm to 4.5 mm.

Advanced System Design

The closed suction system is engineered to minimize contamination and infection risks. It includes a lockable thumb port to prevent accidental activation and a two-way cleaning port for effective flushing with sterile saline. The system is compatible with all ventilation modes, including High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation and Nitric Oxide therapy, and is MR conditional.

• Adapters: Flexible connection to respiratory equipment is facilitated by Y-adapters and elbow adapters.

• WET PAK Configurations: Includes saline bullets of 3 mL or 5 mL, with internal manifold volumes of 3 mL for neonatal and 4 mL for pediatric use. Color bands at different lengths guide insertion depth.
