Mepilex® Transfer Ag by Mölnlycke is an advanced wound care solution designed to manage exudate effectively while providing antimicrobial protection. This dressing is highly conformable and serves as a wound contact layer, transferring exudate vertically into a secondary absorbent dressing. This unique feature helps maintain a moist wound environment, which is crucial for optimal healing.

Key Features

• Antimicrobial Protection: The dressing contains silver sulphate, offering rapid and sustained antimicrobial activity. It effectively inactivates a broad range of wound-related pathogens, including bacteria and fungi, within 30 minutes, and maintains this effect for up to 14 days.

• Safetac® Technology: Equipped with a soft silicone adhesive layer, Safetac® technology ensures minimal pain and trauma during dressing changes. It adheres gently to dry, intact skin without sticking to moist wound beds, reducing the risk of maceration by sealing around the wound margins.

• Exudate Management: The absence of a backing film allows for efficient exudate transfer and facilitates frequent changes of the secondary dressing. This feature is particularly beneficial for wounds with varying exudate levels.

• Conformability: The dressing is thin, soft, and can be easily cut to fit various wound shapes and sizes, making it suitable for difficult-to-dress areas.

Indications for Use

Mepilex® Transfer Ag is suitable for a wide range of wounds, including:

• Leg and foot ulcers
• Pressure ulcers
• Malignant wounds
• Partial thickness burns
• Donor sites
• Surgical and traumatic wounds

It is also appropriate for infected wounds and can be used under compression bandaging, making it ideal for wounds at risk of infection or re-infection.

Application Guidelines

• Preparation: Cleanse the wound thoroughly before application.
• Placement: Ensure a 1–2 cm overlap on dry skin for smaller sizes and a 5 cm overlap for larger sizes.
• Securing: Use a suitable secondary absorbent dressing and fixation method.
• Duration: The dressing may remain in place for up to 14 days, depending on clinical assessment and exudate levels.

Precautions

• Not suitable for individuals with known sensitivity to silver or other dressing components.
• Avoid using with oxidizing agents and during radiation treatments.
• Should be used under healthcare professional supervision.
