Biatain Ag Anti Bacterial Non-Adhesive Foam by Coloplast is a specialized wound dressing designed to enhance the healing process of infected wounds. This dressing features a unique 3D polyurethane foam structure that closely conforms to the wound bed, even under compression, ensuring superior absorption and maintaining an optimal moist environment for healing.

Antimicrobial Properties

The foam is embedded with a patented silver complex that provides continuous antimicrobial action for up to seven days. This sustained release of silver ions in the presence of wound exudate offers broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, effectively targeting bacteria commonly found in infected wounds, such as MRSA and Pseudomonas.

Design and Structure

• 3D Foam Structure: The innovative design allows the dressing to conform to wound beds up to 2 cm deep, minimizing dead space and preventing exudate pooling.

Indications

Precautions

Biatain Ag should not be used in individuals with known sensitivity to silver or carboxymethyl cellulose. It is also not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women, or patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment. The dressing should not be used with oxidizing solutions and may cause transient discoloration of the wound bed.

Application Guidelines

Proper wound cleansing before application is essential. The dressing should overlap healthy skin and be secured with an appropriate secondary dressing. It should be changed when clinically indicated or when exudate nears the edge of the dressing. Biatain Ag can be left in place during MRI scans and should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
