Description
The G-3 Mirror Gonio Fundus Lens by Volk is an essential tool for ophthalmic professionals, offering precise diagnostic capabilities. This Goldmann-style, all-glass lens features a three-mirror design, providing comprehensive views for both gonioscopy and retinal evaluation.
Key Features
- Three-Mirror Design:
- 60° Mirror: For detailed visualization of the iridocorneal angle and trabecular meshwork.
- 66° Mirror: Ideal for imaging the retina from the equator to the ora serrata.
- 76° Mirror: Enables viewing of the mid-peripheral and peripheral retina.
-
Central Lens: Offers a direct view of the posterior pole.
-
Variants:
- Flanged (Standard): 15 mm contact diameter, suitable for laser trabeculoplasty.
- No Flange (Standard): 11.4 mm contact diameter, ideal for routine gonioscopy.

Construction and Coating
Crafted entirely from glass, the lens ensures superior optical clarity and durability. It is available with a broadband anti-reflective (BBAR) laser coating to enhance performance.
Contact Design
Flanged versions require a coupling solution, such as methylcellulose, while No Flange versions may use natural tears or a coupling solution as needed.
Customization
Engraving options are available for both the lens and its case, allowing up to 12 characters on the lens and 17 on the case. Each lens comes with a single-lens case for secure storage.
Care and Maintenance
Proper cleaning involves using a mild, pH-neutral detergent and a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Rinse with sterile, distilled, or deionized water, and dry with an ultra-soft, low-lint cotton cloth. Disinfection should be performed with approved high-level disinfectants.
Sterilization
Compatible with Steris V-Pro systems and steam autoclaving, but not recommended for ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization due to potential mirror degradation. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, acetone, boiling, or ultraviolet light for cleaning.
Storage
Store the lens in a clean, dry environment at room temperature in a closed case. Inspect for damage before each use and dispose of according to local regulations if necessary.
Additional Notes
The lens requires rotation during examination to visualize the entire angle effectively. The use of a coupling solution is crucial for flanged versions to prevent bubble formation and ensure clear views. It is not recommended for use with scleral indentation or STERRAD sterilization.
