The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL) is engineered to enhance visual outcomes for patients undergoing cataract surgery with pre-existing astigmatism. Available in models XY1A and XY1A-SP, this lens is crafted from glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic, ensuring exceptional clarity and durability. Its integrated UV and blue light filters provide additional protection for the eye.

Design Features

• Optic Design: The lens features a biconvex optic with an anterior aspheric surface and a posterior toric surface. This design aims to improve image quality by compensating for corneal spherical aberration and enhancing tolerance to optical imperfections.
• Haptic Design: The textured-rough haptic surface contributes to enhanced stability, crucial for maintaining the lens's position within the eye.

Stability and Performance

The Vivinex™ Toric IOL demonstrates outstanding rotational stability, with clinical data showing a median rotation of just 1.1° post-implantation. Over 96% of lenses exhibit rotation within 5°, even in eyes with high axial lengths, ensuring consistent visual performance.

Surface Treatment and PCO Prevention

The lens's posterior surface undergoes active oxygen processing treatment, combined with a smooth, regular surface and a square optic edge, to significantly reduce posterior capsule opacification (PCO). This results in lower PCO scores and reduced Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates compared to other IOLs.

Injection System

The preloaded multiSert™ or iSert® injector system facilitates precise lens implantation through a recommended incision size of 2.20 mm. The system allows for flexible handling, offering single-handed push or two-handed screw injection options.

Calculation Tools

For accurate surgical planning, the HOYA Toric Calculator employs the Abulafia-Koch Regression formula to estimate the astigmatic effect, including posterior corneal astigmatism. Optimized constants for various calculation formulas are provided, enhancing the predictability of surgical outcomes.
