Description
The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL) is a specialized lens designed for implantation during cataract surgery, aimed at correcting pre-existing corneal astigmatism. Crafted from glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic, this lens offers exceptional optical clarity and includes a UV and blue light filter for enhanced eye protection.
Optic and Haptic Design
- Aspheric and Toric Surfaces: The lens features an anterior aspheric surface and a posterior toric surface, contributing to its precise visual correction capabilities.
- Biconvex Shape: The biconvex shape, along with a square, thin, and textured optic edge, enhances its performance.
- Haptic Stability: The C-loop configuration and textured-rough haptic surface provide superior stability within the eye.
Surface Treatment
The lens undergoes active oxygen processing, resulting in a smooth surface and square edge. This design significantly reduces posterior capsule opacification (PCO), maintaining long-term visual clarity.
Dimensions and Power Range
- Optic Diameter: 6.00 mm
- Overall Length: 13.00 mm
- Spherical Power Range: +10.00 to +30.00 D in 0.50 D increments
- Cylinder Power Range: 1.00 to 6.00 D (IOL plane) with specific increments for precise correction
Optical Constants
The lens includes optimized constants for various calculation formulas, ensuring accurate power prediction and alignment.
Injector System
The preloaded multiSert™ or iSert® injector system allows for a recommended incision size of 2.20 mm. It offers flexible injection methods, including single-handed push or two-handed screw techniques, with an adjustable insert shield for precise insertion.
Clinical Performance
Rotational Stability
- Median Rotation: 1.1°
- Post-Implantation Stability: Over 96% of lenses rotate ≤5°
- Long-Term Stability: 100% of lenses maintain <5° rotation up to 6 months post-surgery
Clarity and PCO Prevention
The lens material remains glistening-free, providing outstanding optical clarity. Its design effectively minimizes PCO, with clinical studies showing lower PCO scores and Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates compared to other IOLs.
Intended Use
The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric IOL is intended for healthcare professionals to correct astigmatism in patients undergoing cataract surgery. It is CE marked, indicating compliance with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards.
