Description
The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL), model XY1A-SP, is a specialized lens designed to address astigmatism during cataract surgery. Crafted from hydrophobic acrylic, this lens offers glistening-free clarity and incorporates both UV and blue light filters for enhanced visual protection.
Optic Design
- Biconvex Structure: Features a square, thin, and textured edge.
- Aspheric Surfaces: Anterior aspheric and posterior toric surfaces.
- Proprietary Design: Compensates for corneal spherical aberration and improves tolerance to coma.
Haptic Design
- Textured-Rough Surface: Ensures enhanced stability.
- C-Loop Configuration: Some models include PMMA-modified haptics.
Dimensions
- Optic Diameter: 6.00 mm
- Overall Length: 13.00 mm (with some models ranging from 12.5 mm to 13.00 mm)
Power Range
- Spherical Power: +10.00 D to +30.00 D in 0.50 D increments.
- Cylinder Power at IOL Plane: 1.00 D to 6.00 D (T2 to T9) with specific increments.
- Cylinder Power at Corneal Plane: 0.69 D to 4.17 D
Optical Constants
- Nominal A-Constant: 118.9
- Optimized Constants: Available for Haigis, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1, and SRK/T formulas.
Injector System
The preloaded multiSert™ injector system features a front injector tip with an outer diameter of 1.70 mm, suitable for a recommended incision size of 2.20 mm. It allows for single-handed push or two-handed screw injection, with an adjustable insert shield for precise tip insertion.
Clinical Performance
- Rotational Stability: Over 96% of lenses rotate ≤5° post-implantation, with a median rotation of 1.1°.
- Long-Term Clarity: Glistening-free material and active oxygen processing reduce posterior capsule opacification (PCO).
- Clinical Studies: Show lower PCO scores and Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates compared to some other IOLs.
Intended Use
This lens is intended for implantation during cataract surgery to correct pre-existing corneal astigmatism, making it suitable for patients with both cataracts and corneal astigmatism. Some models may offer trifocal capabilities for clear vision at various distances, enhancing overall visual outcomes.
