Description
The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL) is expertly designed for patients undergoing cataract surgery who require correction for preexisting corneal astigmatism. This advanced lens offers a range of features tailored to enhance visual outcomes and provide long-term stability.
Optic Design
The lens features a biconvex optic with a square, thin, and textured edge. Its anterior aspheric design partially compensates for corneal spherical aberration, improving tolerance to coma, while the posterior toric design effectively addresses astigmatism. The sharp optic edge is engineered to reduce posterior capsule opacification (PCO), contributing to clearer vision over time.
Material and Filtering
Crafted from glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic, the Vivinex™ material includes UV and blue light filters, offering protection and clarity. This ensures a high-quality visual experience with reduced glare and enhanced contrast.
Haptic Design and Surface Treatment
The lens's textured-rough haptic surface enhances stability within the eye. Active oxygen processing on the posterior surface results in a smooth, regular IOL surface, promoting consistent performance.
Dimensions and Power Range
The optic diameter measures 6.00 mm, with an overall length of 13.00 mm. The lens offers a spherical power range from +10.00 to +30.00 diopters in 0.50 D increments, and a cylinder power range at the IOL plane from 1.00 to 6.00 D, providing tailored correction options.
Rotational Stability
The Vivinex™ Toric IOL demonstrates exceptional rotational stability, with a median rotation of 1.1° and over 96% of lenses rotating ≤5° post-implantation. This stability is crucial for maintaining the intended astigmatic correction.
Clinical Performance
Clinical trials have shown significant reductions in refractive astigmatism and high rates of uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) of 20/40 or better at six months post-surgery. The lens maintains low incidence of PCO and offers glistening-free clarity, ensuring long-term visual satisfaction.
Injector System
The lens is preloaded with the multiSert™ or Vivinex™ iSert® injector system, facilitating ease of implantation. The system's design includes a front injector tip with an outer diameter of 1.70 mm and a recommended incision size of 2.20 mm, allowing for precise and minimally invasive delivery.
Calculation Constants
Key calculation constants include a nominal A-constant of 118.9 and specific parameters for Haigis, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1, and SRK/T formulas, supporting accurate lens power calculations.
Additional Features
The HOYA Toric Calculator, incorporating the Abulafia–Koch Regression formula, is available for precise cylinder power calculation, enhancing surgical planning and outcomes. This lens is designed for consistent and predictable delivery, intended for use by healthcare professionals.
