Intended Use

• Cleansing and Irrigation: Ideal for the mechanical cleansing of body cavities, tissues, wounds, and surgical sites. It is also used for irrigating indwelling urethral catheters and surgical drainage tubes during procedures.
• Diluent Purposes: Serves as a diluent or vehicle for compatible medications, particularly in preparations requiring a sterile, nonpyrogenic electrolyte solution.

Composition

• Active Ingredient: Sodium Chloride at a concentration of 0.9%.
• Excipients: Includes water for injections, with pH adjustments made using hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide.

Physical Properties

• pH Level: Typically ranges from 4.5 to 7.0.
• Osmolarity: Approximately 308–310 mOsmol/L.
• Electrolyte Content: Contains sodium and chloride each at 154 mEq/L.

• Single Use: Intended for single use only. Discard any remaining solution after opening to maintain sterility.

Contraindications
