Description
Aquacel Ag+ EXTRA is an advanced wound dressing designed to manage complex wound care needs, particularly where infection and biofilm are concerns. This soft, sterile, non-woven dressing is crafted with Hydrofiber Technology, featuring two layers of sodium carboxymethylcellulose for enhanced strength and absorbency.
Antimicrobial Properties
The dressing is impregnated with 1.2% ionic silver, providing robust antimicrobial protection. It also includes EDTA and benzethonium chloride, forming an antibiofilm formulation known as Ag+ Technology. This combination is effective against a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria, yeasts, and moulds, even in biofilm states.
Key Benefits
- High Absorbency: Capable of absorbing significant amounts of wound fluid and bacteria, forming a cohesive gel that conforms to the wound surface.
- Moist Wound Environment: Maintains optimal conditions for wound healing and aids in autolytic debridement.
- Antimicrobial Barrier: Provides a protective barrier, disrupting and absorbing biofilm to enhance healing.
Enhanced Performance
Compared to standard AQUACEL Ag dressing, Aquacel Ag+ EXTRA is nine times stronger and 50% more absorbent. It is versatile, available in sheet and ribbon formats, and can be cut to fit various wound dimensions. The dressing is MRI safe and intended for single use only.
