• Compact Design: The small, unobtrusive compression sleeve attaches seamlessly to the hub of the Tuohy needle. By rotating the sleeve clockwise, the spinal needle is securely fixed in place, yet still allows for rotational adjustments to improve CSF return.

• Manual Grip Elimination: By eliminating the need for a manual finger grip, the device provides a more stable and controlled needle positioning.

Compatibility and Components

• Tuohy Needle Integration: The system includes a special Tuohy needle with a back-eye aperture and a sleeved spinal needle, offering smooth needle exit and optimal tactile feedback.

• Needle Markings: Spinal needles are marked to indicate the tip position relative to the back-eye, with specific markings for use with or without the docking system. Ideal needle protrusion is 15 mm for the Pencil Point needle and 13 mm for the Quincke type needle.

• Catheter Compatibility: Compatible with Perifix Soft Tip catheters, the system includes a thread assist guide to enhance catheter stability during insertion.

Operation Summary

1. Attach the Docking System loosely to the epidural needle hub.
2. Insert the sleeved spinal needle through the Docking System and Tuohy needle.
3. After dural puncture and CSF confirmation, rotate the Docking System to secure the spinal needle.
4. Administer the anesthetic through the spinal needle.
5. Detach the Docking System, withdraw the spinal needle, and proceed with epidural catheter placement.

Safety and Handling

The device is designed to prevent excessive protrusion of the spinal needle, reducing the risk of ventral dural sac puncture. Proper use and positioning are emphasized to avoid complications such as paresthesia or blood in CSF.
