Description

Exufiber Ag+ by Mölnlycke is an advanced wound dressing designed to manage medium to highly exuding wounds. This sterile, non-woven dressing incorporates silver sulphate, making it suitable for a variety of wound types, including chronic wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, partial thickness burns, and surgical wounds. It is not recommended for dry wounds or full thickness burns.

Antimicrobial Properties

The dressing's antimicrobial action is activated upon contact with wound exudate, releasing silver ions from fine silver sulphate crystals. This provides rapid and sustained protection against a broad spectrum of pathogens, including resistant strains like VRE and MRSA. The antimicrobial effect can last up to seven days, helping to prevent and reduce biofilm formation.

Hydrolock® Technology

Exufiber Ag+ features Hydrolock® Technology, utilizing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers that gel upon contact with exudate. This transformation offers high absorbency and retention, minimizing leakage and skin maceration. The dressing maintains its integrity during use, allowing for easy, one-piece removal without leaving residues.

Moist Wound Environment

By gelling with exudate, Exufiber Ag+ creates a moist wound environment conducive to autolytic debridement, promoting a clean wound bed. It effectively manages fluid by absorbing large volumes of exudate and transferring it to a secondary dressing, making it suitable for use under compression therapy.

Conformability and Packaging

The dressing is soft and conformable, adapting well to the wound bed contours. It is available in various sizes, including ribbon form for cavity wounds. Each dressing is individually packed in a four-side sealed paper/plastic blister and sterilized with ethylene oxide, ensuring sterility.

Application Instructions

To use Exufiber Ag+, cleanse the wound and select a size that adequately covers the wound with some overlap on the surrounding skin. Apply the dressing dry, cover with a suitable secondary dressing, and leave it in place for up to seven days, depending on the wound condition. It should be changed if exudate leakage occurs or as per clinical guidelines.
