Description
HORIZON Ligating Clips by Weck are expertly crafted surgical devices designed for precise vessel ligation. Constructed from titanium, these clips feature a unique pre-formed chevron shape that ensures accurate tip-to-tip closure, providing surgeons with reliable performance during critical procedures.
Design Features
- Chevron Shape: The innovative design enhances closure precision, reducing the risk of slippage.
- Heart-Shaped Wire: Offers a secure grip on vessels, enhancing surgical outcomes.
- Triangulated Cross-Section: Maximizes contact between the clip and applier jaw, minimizing clip fallout.
Cartridge System
The color-coded cartridge system simplifies identification and ensures compatibility with Weck® Horizon® Appliers. Each cartridge includes an adhesive backing for convenient placement in sterile environments, and the nearly frictionless design allows for effortless one-hand loading.
Size Variability
Available in various sizes, including Small, Small-Wide, Medium, Medium-Large, and Large, these clips cater to diverse surgical needs. Packaging options provide flexibility, with configurations of 180 clips per box or 600 clips per box.
Compatibility and Use
Designed for use with both open and endoscopic Weck® Horizon® Appliers, these reusable instruments offer tactile feedback upon clip closure and are color-coded to match the ligating clip cartridges. Intended for cardiovascular and general surgical procedures, these clips are not suitable for contraceptive tubal occlusion or ligating the renal artery in laparoscopic donor nephrectomies.
Maintenance Guidelines
Proper maintenance of appliers includes adherence to cleaning and sterilization protocols as per the manufacturer's Instructions for Use. Recommended sterilization methods include:
- PreVac: 270°F/132°C for 4 minutes or 275°F/135°C for 3 minutes
- Gravity: 275°F/135°C for 10 minutes
A minimum drying time of 30 minutes is advised. Joints should be lubricated with a non-silicone, water-based surgical-grade lubricant. Regular inspection for damage and alignment is essential, and any compromised instruments should not be used.
Regulatory Information
These clips are restricted to sale by or on the order of a physician, ensuring they are utilized by qualified medical professionals. This regulatory measure underscores the specialized nature of the product, aligning with its intended surgical applications.
