Description
The HOYA Vivinex™ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL), available in models XY1A and XY1A-SP, is designed for implantation during cataract surgery to correct pre-existing corneal astigmatism. Crafted from glistening-free hydrophobic acrylic, it features both UV and blue light filters to enhance visual clarity and protection.
Optic Design
- Biconvex, Single-Piece Lens: The lens includes an aspheric anterior surface and a toric posterior surface.
- Square, Thin, Textured Edge: This design minimizes posterior capsule opacification (PCO).
- Axis Orientation Marks: Located on the posterior surface for precise alignment.
Haptic Design
The C-loop design with a textured-rough surface ensures stable positioning. Some models include PMMA-modified haptics for enhanced stability.
Dimensions
- Optic Diameter: 6.00 mm
- Overall Length: 13.00 mm
Power Range
- Spherical Power: +10.00 D to +30.00 D in 0.50 D increments, with some models extending to +33.00 D.
- Cylinder Power: Ranges from 1.00 D to 6.00 D at the IOL plane, tailored for precise astigmatism correction.
Rotational Stability
The lens demonstrates exceptional rotational stability, with a median rotation of 1.1° and over 96% of lenses rotating ≤5° post-implantation.
Surface Treatment
Active oxygen processing creates a smooth surface, reducing PCO. The square optic edge design further minimizes PCO.
Injector System
The preloaded multiSert™ or iSert® system offers versatile injection options, accommodating both single-handed and two-handed techniques. The recommended incision size is 2.20 mm.
Optical Performance
The proprietary aspheric optic design compensates for corneal spherical aberration, enhancing image quality and clarity. Clinical studies indicate significantly lower PCO scores and Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates compared to other IOLs.
Optimized Constants
For precise IOL power calculation, the lens provides optimized constants across various formulas, including:
- Nominal A-constant: 118.9
- Haigis: a₀ = 0.8733, a₁ = 0.2093, a₂ = 0.2277
- Hoffer Q: pACD = 5.693
- Holladay 1: sf = 1.926
- SRK/T: A = 119.18
Additional Features
Designed for ease of implantation and stable positioning, some models may offer trifocal capabilities and diffractive zones, making it an ideal choice for healthcare professionals addressing cataracts and corneal astigmatism.
