INADINE® Povidone-Iodine Non-Adherent Dressing is a versatile wound care solution designed to manage and prevent infections in various types of shallow and ulcerative wounds. Manufactured by Acelity and supplied in Australia by 3M, this dressing is crafted from a low-adherent, knitted viscose rayon fabric, making it gentle on healing tissues.
Antimicrobial Properties
The dressing is impregnated with an ointment containing 10% povidone-iodine, providing broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection. This makes it effective against a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria such as MRSA, fungi, viruses, protozoa, and mycobacteria. Importantly, it does not contribute to antibiotic resistance, offering a reliable option for infection control.

Suitable For

It is particularly beneficial for wounds less than 1 cm in depth, those with local infection, or for prophylactic use in high-risk individuals.
Precautions
There are specific contraindications to consider, including hypersensitivity to iodine, thyroid disorders, severe renal impairment, and certain other medical conditions. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, newborns, or infants under 6 months unless under medical supervision. Clinical supervision is advised for prolonged use or when contraindications are present.
Instructions for Use
- Wound Preparation: Cleanse the wound and surrounding skin thoroughly.
- Application: Place the iodine-impregnated side directly on the wound.
- Secondary Dressing: Cover with a suitable secondary dressing as advised by a healthcare professional.
- Monitoring: Change the dressing based on the color change indicator or as directed, especially in cases of heavy exudate or severe infection.
