Description
The LMA® Protector™ Airway is a second-generation, single-use supraglottic airway device designed to enhance patient safety and improve airway management. Featuring the innovative Cuff Pilot™ Technology, it provides an integrated cuff pressure monitoring system with a visual indicator, ensuring optimal cuff inflation throughout its use.
Advanced Sealing Technology
Equipped with First Seal™ and Second Seal™ Technology, this device offers a dual sealing mechanism. The oropharyngeal seal ensures effective airway management, while the upper esophageal seal minimizes gastric insufflation and facilitates gastric access. This dual functionality is complemented by proprietary dual gastric drainage channels, allowing for effective suction and decompression of the stomach.
Superior Material and Design
Constructed entirely of phthalate-free silicone, the LMA® Protector™ conforms comfortably to patient anatomy. Its Dynamic Curve Design aids in rapid insertion and secure fit, even in challenging airway situations. The device is also intubation-capable, allowing direct intubation with endotracheal tubes up to 7.5 mm in diameter, using visual guidance.
Versatile and Safe
Available in sizes suitable for patients ranging from 30 kg to 100 kg, it is designed for use in both routine and emergency settings. The device is MR Safe, making it suitable for use in MRI environments. As a single-use device, it significantly reduces the risk of cross-contamination.
Effective Airway Management
The LMA® Protector™ is intended for use during anesthesia or emergency airway management, providing a secure airway to reduce complications and improve outcomes. It is particularly useful as a rescue device in difficult airway scenarios, though not a substitute for endotracheal intubation in patients at risk of aspiration.
Insertion and Monitoring
Proper insertion involves specific techniques such as deflation, lubrication, and positioning, with confirmation of placement through various tests. Cuff inflation should be carefully monitored, with a maximum pressure of 60 cm H₂O, to ensure an effective seal and minimize air leaks.
Single-Use Safety
Post-use, the device should be disposed of to maintain hygiene standards. Proper sizing and placement are crucial to avoid complications like malposition or inadequate sealing. Continuous monitoring of cuff pressure using the Cuff Pilot™ indicator helps prevent overinflation, ensuring safe and effective use.
