Handling and Maintenance

Prolene sutures are not absorbed by the body and must be manually removed. It is not recommended to sterilise these sutures by autoclaving, boiling, or alcohol-soaking.

Performance

In comparative studies, Prolene sutures demonstrated minimal tissue reaction and a less severe foreign body response than other materials like silk and polyglactin 910. No significant complications such as necrosis, infection, or suture failure have been observed, highlighting its reliability in surgical applications.
