Description

B. Braun Askina Barrier Film Spray is a rapid-drying skin barrier designed to protect intact or damaged skin from common sources of irritation in wound and stoma care. Supplied in a 28 mL spray bottle, it applies as a transparent, breathable film that helps shield vulnerable areas from urine, faeces, moisture, friction, and trauma caused by adhesives or tapes.

The film dries in under 30 seconds, allowing efficient application in routine care. Once dry, it remains transparent so the skin can continue to be visually monitored without removing the barrier. Protection typically lasts for 48 to 72 hours, with coverage that may extend up to 3 days depending on the care setting and skin condition. When needed, the film can be removed using a medical adhesive remover.

Common Uses

This barrier film is commonly used on periwound and peristomal skin, particularly where there is a risk of maceration, excoriation, or moisture-related skin breakdown. It may also be applied under adhesive dressings or fixation tapes to help protect fragile, damaged, newly formed, or newly healed skin.
