Askina DresSil Active Heel with Border is a heel-shaped multilayer silicone dressing developed by Askina and manufactured by B. Braun for wound care in areas that need secure, contoured coverage. Its shape is designed to fit the heel more closely, helping the dressing stay in place while supporting active exudate management.

The dressing uses a 5-layer construction to absorb and retain wound fluid while maintaining a moist wound environment. This structure includes a semi-transparent film with 1 cm monitoring dots, a superabsorbent layer, an exudate distribution layer, a thin foam layer, and a silicone fixation layer. Together, these layers help manage fluid effectively and support atraumatic dressing changes.

Suitable Uses

This dressing is intended for exuding wounds, including:

• Pressure ulcers
• Leg ulcers
• Foot ulcers
• Traumatic wounds such as skin tears
• Surgical wounds

It may also be used on dry or necrotic wounds when combined with gels. In addition, it can be used prophylactically to help reduce the risk of skin damage, including pressure-related injury.
