Askina DresSil Active Sacrum with Border is a silicone multilayer sacral dressing designed for wounds in the sacral area that require reliable exudate management. Its shaped construction is intended to conform to this anatomical region while providing secure bordered fixation.

This dressing is suitable for exuding wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg and foot ulcers, traumatic wounds including skin tears, and surgical wounds. It may also be used on dry or necrotic wounds when combined with gels, and can be used prophylactically to help reduce the risk of skin damage, including pressure ulcers.

Construction and Function

The dressing uses a 5-layer design to support absorption, retention, and moisture balance:

• A semi-transparent outer film with 1 cm-spaced dots forms the Active Exudate Monitoring System and supports visual monitoring of exudate levels
• A superabsorbent layer absorbs and locks in exudate
• An exudate distribution layer helps spread fluid through the dressing structure
• A thin foam layer supports vertical absorption and helps maintain moisture balance
• A silicone contact and fixation layer helps the dressing conform to body contours and supports secure placement
