Description
Multigate’s Cadence SI is a sterile, single-use, non-powered laparoscopic suction and irrigation device for endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. It delivers irrigation fluid into a body cavity and aspirates fluid and debris to help maintain a clear operating field. The system combines intuitive controls with adaptable ergonomics to support efficient intraoperative fluid management.
Key features and design
- Single patient use only; not reusable and not re-sterilisable
- Ergonomic handpiece designed to improve comfort and reduce surgeon fatigue
- Intuitive operation with color-coded icons and a grooved suction button to distinguish suction from irrigation
- Convertible grip allows pistol or trumpet grip by swapping the shaft cap and secondary cap (tighten caps clockwise and ensure both are securely attached before operation)
- Simplified internal mechanism to promote leak-free performance
- Dual shaft attachment for quick, secure switching between grip configurations
- Precision swage tip supports consistent irrigation flow without compromising suction
- Flexible tubing for improved maneuverability
- Components/connectors: removable button clip and plastic sleeve (remove before use), shaft cap, secondary cap, single or dual irrigation bag spikes, and a blue suction connector for connection to a suction canister
Specifications and configurations
- Shaft diameter: 5 mm (standard)
- Shaft lengths: 33 cm or 45 cm
- Tubing length: 3.7 m
- Spike options: single spike or dual spike
- Optional accessory: 10 mm diameter, 33 cm suction/irrigation shaft compatible with the handpiece
Setup and operation
- Set up and operate using aseptic technique
- Remove the button clip before connecting to irrigation bags
- Insert the tubing spikes into irrigation fluid bags; use clamps to control flow
- Connect the blue suction connector to a suction canister
- Prime and test the device before surgeon use; a pressure device may be applied to the irrigation bag if increased flow is required
- If supplied with the shaft unconnected, attach it to the handpiece in the preferred configuration before use
Warnings and precautions
- Do not use if the package is opened or damaged
- Ensure both the shaft cap and secondary cap are securely screwed in before operation
- Do not connect to irrigation bags unless the button clip has been removed
- Not designed for use with powdered irrigation fluid supply systems
- Endoscopic procedures should be performed only by adequately trained surgeons familiar with electrosurgical techniques and associated hazards
Contraindications
- Not intended for use when endoscopic techniques are contraindicated
Recognition
- Good Design Australia Gold Award for design and innovation
