Description

Nutricia Calogen is a ready-to-use, energy-dense (4.5 kcal/ml), protein-free long-chain triglyceride (LCT) fat emulsion oral nutritional supplement. It is a Food for Special Medical Purposes and should be used under medical supervision.

• 135 kcal and 15 g fat per 30 ml “shot”; 100% of energy from LCT fat.
• No added protein or fibre; minimal carbohydrate; essentially electrolyte- and micronutrient-free.
• Shot-style dosing suitable alongside medication rounds; can be mixed into foods or fluids; can be added to enteral tube feeds as an energy enhancer.
• May be used as a milk replacer in protein-restricted diets.

• Typical regimen: 3 × 30 ml per day, undiluted or mixed into foods/fluids.

• Strawberry per 30 ml: 140 kcal (576 kJ); fat 15 g; carbohydrate 1.23 g; protein 0 g; fibre 0 g; 100% LCT; omega-6/omega-3 ratio 5:1.
• Minerals (Neutral): sodium 2.1 mg and chloride 0.03 mg per 30 ml (very low).

Ingredients

• Neutral: Vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower), demineralised water, emulsifier (citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids).
• Strawberry: Vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower), demineralised water, sugar, emulsifier (citric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), strawberry flavour, colour (E120).

• No gluten-containing ingredients; gluten not detectable (<5 ppm).
• Low lactose (<2 g/100 g).
• Halal certified; Kosher approved except flavours containing carminic acid (E120).

Important notices and storage

• Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition; not for parenteral use.
• Not suitable for patients with galactosaemia.
• Use with caution in children under 6 years; Strawberry flavour not suitable for infants/children under 3 years.
• Store in a cool, dry place; do not freeze. Once opened, reseal, refrigerate, and use within 14 days.
