Design overview
This single-use, non-hooded overall from Multigate Medical Products is a one-piece protective garment designed to provide 360° body coverage from wrists to ankles. The white, non-sterile coverall allows the head to remain uncovered for use with separate head or respiratory protection as required. Interfaces at the cuffs, ankles, and neck, as well as the front closure, are critical to overall protection; users should evaluate these areas for an effective seal with gloves, footwear, masks/respirators, and other PPE used alongside the garment.
Intended use and limitations
- Intended to help protect workers from contact with blood, body fluids, and bloodborne pathogens in healthcare and related environments.
- Single-use/disposable; do not re-use. Dispose of after use according to facility protocols and local regulations.
- Non-sterile; not intended for use in sterile fields or where sterile barrier protection is required.
- Does not provide head or respiratory protection; pair with appropriate PPE as the task requires.

Selection and standards guidance
Performance of protective apparel depends on both the fabric and seam/closure design. External pressure from leaning or kneeling can increase liquid penetration; test pressure conditions are therefore important. When specifying or validating this garment for procedures with potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material, confirm with the manufacturer which standards and test methods are applicable to this specific model, such as:
- EN 14126 (classification against infective agents using ISO 16603/16604)
- ASTM F1670 (synthetic blood) and ASTM F1671 (viral penetration) for both materials and seams
- NFPA 1999 / NFPA 1950 for emergency medical garments (requires ASTM F1671 and full-garment liquid integrity with third-party certification)
- Additional tests sometimes reported: AATCC 42 (impact penetration), AATCC 127 or EN 20811 (hydrostatic head), EN ISO 22610 (wet microbial), EN ISO 22612 (dry microbial)
Fit influences protection and durability; select sizing in line with recognized guidance (e.g., ANSI/ISEA 101 for limited-use/disposable coveralls) to reduce tearing and leakage at interfaces. Water-based tests may overestimate protection against blood and other potentially infectious materials; synthetic blood and viral penetration tests are stronger indicators of barrier performance.
