Description
Ecopack Compostable Bin Liners are a plant-based range of bin bags designed for collecting food scraps, organic waste, waste paper and other light household or workplace rubbish. The range includes sizes suited to small kitchen caddies through to large wheelie bins, making it suitable for both home and commercial waste separation systems.
Made from a bioplastic blend that commonly includes GMO-free corn starch, PLA and PBAT, these liners are certified compostable to AS4736 for commercial composting and AS5810 for home composting. In suitable moist composting conditions, many variants are described as breaking down in around 90 to 180 days, depending on the composting environment. They are intended for composting systems rather than landfill disposal and are described as breaking down without harmful residues or microplastics.
Range and sizing
Available capacities commonly include 8L, 18L, 27L, 36L, 60L and 80L, with larger options extending up to 240L. Example dimensions include:
- 18L: 460 x 495 mm plus 165 mm tie handle
- 27L: 540 x 565 mm plus 150 mm tie handle
- 60L: 640 x 780 mm plus 170 mm tie handle
- 80L: 780 x 1060 mm
Formats across the range include rolls, dispenser boxes and bundles. Depending on the size, designs may include tie-handle, wave-top, flat-top or no-handle styles.
Typical applications
These liners are commonly used in:
- Kitchen caddies and pull-out kitchen bins
- Bathroom, laundry and office bins
- Large household and commercial bins
- Standard Australian wheelie bins
- Some garden waste and trimmings applications
Many variants are also marketed as suitable for most council FOGO bins, subject to local council requirements.
Handling and storage
The liners are often described as extra-thick or extra-micron for improved tear resistance, but they are best used for organic or light general waste rather than sharp or very heavy contents. For best performance, avoid overfilling, replace liners regularly, and store unused rolls or boxes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. A typical shelf life is about 12 months from manufacture.
