Description

Osmocel Si Silicone Foam is a sterile, all-in-one hydroporous foam wound dressing from the Osmocel wound-care range by SENTRY Medical. Designed for exuding wounds, it combines a multilayer construction with a polyurethane foam layer and a superabsorbent layer to help manage fluid while maintaining moisture balance at the wound surface. This moist protective environment supports wound care while helping protect fragile skin and underlying wound tissue.

A key feature of the dressing is its soft silicone contact layer, which is designed to be gentle on the skin and to help reduce pain and trauma during dressing changes. The outer backing has enhanced moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR) to support wear time. Non-bordered versions are adhesive-free and include a water-resistant outer backing, while bordered versions are commonly selected when a waterproof dressing is preferred.

Applications

Osmocel Si Silicone Foam is intended for a wide range of superficial and other exuding wounds, including:

• skin tears
• arterial, diabetic, and venous leg ulcers
• pressure injuries and pressure ulcers
• chronic wounds
• partial-thickness burns
• surgical and post-surgical wounds

It may also be used as a secondary dressing with wound contact products when conventional adhesive fixation is not desirable.

Absorption and wear time

This dressing is described as suitable for light to moderate, and in some variants moderate to heavy, exudate. It should be changed when exudate extends beyond the wound surface area, with a maximum wear time of up to 7 days.

Available formats and sizes

Confirmed configurations include standard non-bordered, bordered, petal bordered, Vari-Site, sacral, and sacral butterfly formats. Vari-Site versions are shaped to conform to areas such as the heel, knee, elbow, underarm, foot, sacrum, neck, and breast. Validated sizes range from 5 x 5 cm up to approximately 23 x 23 cm.
