Prontosan Wound Gel X

Description

B. Braun Prontosan Wound Gel X is a sterile, highly viscous wound gel supplied in a 50 g tube for the management of acute, chronic, and burn wounds. Designed to support wound bed preparation, it helps cleanse, moisturise, and decontaminate skin wounds and burns while maintaining a moist wound environment.

Its viscous gel format allows it to remain in contact with the wound bed between dressing changes. The formulation is intended to help remove and inhibit biofilm formation, which can be a barrier to effective wound management. It may also be used to moisten bandages and wound dressings and is compatible with commonly used wound dressings.

Indications for use

This wound gel is indicated for a wide range of wound types, including:

• Traumatic wounds
• Post-operative wounds
• Chronic skin ulcers
• Venous ulcers
• Diabetic ulcers
• Pressure ulcers
• Thermal wounds
• Chemical wounds caused by acids or alkalis

Composition and application

The gel contains purified water, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose, betaine surfactant, and 0.1% polihexanide. Before application, the wound should be cleansed or rinsed. The gel is then applied to the wound bed and left in place until the next dressing change.
