Soffban Cast Padding

Description

Soffban orthopaedic padding by BSN/Essity is designed to provide comfortable, conformable cushioning under casts, splints, and related immobilisation devices. The range includes two white, 2.7 m roll variants—Natural (viscose/rayon) and Synthetic (polyester)—to accommodate different clinical preferences and care pathways.

Soffban Natural

• Material: 100% viscose/rayon fleece; white
• Roll length: 2.7 m
• Available widths: 7.5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm
• Key features: soft, comfortable cushioning; conforms to contours and joints; absorbent to manage sweat/exudate and help reduce maceration/skin irritation; easy to tear/tease; hypoallergenic
• Intended use: undercast padding compatible with plaster of Paris and synthetic casting materials for fracture and soft tissue injury management and immobilisation

Soffban Synthetic

• Material: 100% polyester; latex-free; white
• Roll length: 2.7 m
• Available widths: 5 cm, 7.5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm
• Key features: water resistant and moisture wicking; retains cushioning loft even when wet; highly conformable; easy to tear; feathers/clings for a smooth, even finish; provides protection from the cast saw during removal
• Intended use: padding for casting and splinting; also suited to compression therapy and cushioning in prosthetics; can remain on intact skin or over surgical dressings until cast removal or bandage change
• Use characteristics: single-use; no known warnings/contraindications
• Sterilization options: supplied non-sterile; autoclavable in the paper sleeve at 134–138°C for 3 minutes; sterile options available in select widths
• Storage and shelf life: store dry and clean, away from direct sunlight; shelf life 5 years
• Composition notes: does not contain natural rubber latex, lanolin/derivatives, colophony/derivatives, BPA, PVC, methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, microplastics (<5 mm), nanoparticles, fragrance/parfum, antibiotics, triclosan, chlorhexidine, or polyhexanide; packaging is free of PVC and natural rubber latex

Sterility and packaging

• Soffban Natural: available in non-sterile and sterile formats (sterile rolls for theatre/sterile procedures)
• Packaging (Natural, non-sterile): typically supplied in packs of 12 rolls; sterile rolls are individually wrapped (bulk carton quantities vary by supplier)
