SofMesh Silicone Wound Contact Layer

Description

SofMesh Si is a sterile soft silicone wound contact layer designed to protect fragile or sensitive wounds while supporting effective exudate management. Made by Sentry Medical, it sits directly over the wound bed and allows wound fluid to pass through to a suitable secondary absorbent dressing. This helps maintain contact with the wound surface while reducing disturbance during dressing changes.

The soft silicone construction is gentle on the skin and is intended to help minimise pain and trauma when the dressing is lifted or repositioned. Its flexible, skin-friendly design makes it suitable for wounds that need delicate handling and frequent monitoring, including situations where the outer absorbent dressing may need to be changed more often than the contact layer itself.

Indications

SofMesh Si may be used for a range of fragile or sensitive wounds, including:

• Pressure injuries
• Leg ulcers
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Burns
• Skin graft sites
• Post-surgical wounds

Application

1. Cleanse the wound according to local protocol.
2. Select a size that adequately covers the wound area.
3. Place the SofMesh Si contact layer directly over the wound bed.
4. Cover with a suitable secondary absorbent dressing.

The secondary dressing can be changed as needed, while the SofMesh Si layer may remain in place through multiple dressing changes where clinically appropriate.
