## Description

The BD™ Blunt Fill Filter Needle is an essential tool for healthcare professionals, designed to enhance safety and precision during medication preparation. Manufactured by BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), this device is intended for the aspiration and withdrawal of fluids from vials and glass ampoules, specifically engineered to mitigate the risk of needlestick injuries and contamination.

### Key Features

- **Blunt Tip Design**: The needle's blunt tip significantly reduces the likelihood of needlestick injuries, providing a safer alternative to conventional hypodermic needles. It is not intended for skin injection, ensuring its use is limited to fluid withdrawal.

- **Integrated Filter**: Equipped with a 5-micron filter, this needle effectively prevents particulate contaminants such as glass shards or rubber particles from entering the syringe, ensuring cleaner medication preparation.

- **Non-Coring Bevel**: The design includes a non-coring bevel that minimizes the risk of contamination by preventing rubber coring when piercing vial stoppers or IV bag septa.

### Design and Compatibility

- **Color Coding**: The needle features a color-coded hub—purple for filter versions and red for non-filter versions—allowing for easy identification.

- **Syringe Compatibility**: Compatible with standard Luer-Lok and Luer-Slip syringes, ensuring broad applicability across various medical settings.

### Usage and Disposal

This single-use, sterile device is intended for one-time use and should be disposed of in an approved sharps collector immediately after use.
