Description

SENTRY Medical ThreadX XRD Abdominal Surgical Sponge Without Tape is an x-ray-detectable gauze sponge designed for open surgical procedures where absorbency, tissue protection, and item visibility are important. Made from 6-ply, 100% cotton layered gauze, it is intended for abdominal packing, fluid management, bleeding control, and protecting organs and surrounding tissue during surgery.

The sponge is constructed to absorb more than 8 times its own weight in fluid, supporting efficient management of blood and other surgical fluids in the operating room. Its low-linting, non-abrasive cotton construction helps reduce loose fibres while remaining gentle on delicate tissue surfaces. Hemmed seams further assist in limiting fraying during use.

X-ray Detectable Design

A black x-ray-detectable thread is internally heat-bonded to the gauze to support identification on x-ray. This feature is intended to assist retained surgical item safety protocols and provide an added layer of visibility during operative counts and post-procedure verification.
