Product Details

Description

Thrombexin 18 is a below-knee anti-embolism medical compression stocking designed to support thrombosis prophylaxis in patients with reduced mobility. It provides graduated compression from the ankle to the knee, with the product line specified at 18 mmHg, to help encourage venous return and reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and venous thromboembolism (VTE). It is commonly used for hospitalised, post-surgical, recovery, immobile, or limited-mobility patients, and may also be used in the management of postoperative or post-traumatic oedema.

Key features

The stocking is made with a two-way stretch construction that helps accommodate different leg lengths and widths for a more adaptable fit. Its soft, breathable knitted fabric is designed for comfort during wear, while a silicone top band helps keep the stocking securely in place and reduce roll-down. Colour-coded sizing supports easier size identification, and heel-positioning or colour markers assist with correct application.

An inspection opening in the toe area allows circulation checks without removing the stocking. The toe area also incorporates antibacterial thread. The material composition is reported as 82% polyamide and 18% elastane.

Sizing

Reported size ranges are:

  • XS: 17-19 cm
  • S: 20-22 cm
  • M: 23-25 cm
  • L: 26-28 cm
  • XL: 29-31 cm
  • Large X-Wide: 26-28 cm

Use and important considerations

Apply to a clean, dry leg, smooth out any wrinkles, and position the stocking below the knee. Fitting and use should follow healthcare-professional guidance.

This product line is contraindicated in advanced peripheral arterial occlusive disease, decompensated heart failure (NYHA III/IV), septic phlebitis, phlegmasia cerulea dolens, and massive leg oedema.
