Overview

A tourniquet drape is a protective barrier placed beneath a tourniquet cuff during limb preparation. Its purpose is to prevent prep solutions—such as povidone-iodine—from pooling under the cuff, where trapped fluid can lead to friction or chemical irritation of the skin.

How to use

• Position the drape on the limb before cuff application.
• Apply the tourniquet cuff over the drape, ensuring full coverage of the cuff’s footprint.
• Proceed with skin preparation; the barrier helps channel fluids away from the cuff–skin interface.
• Remove and dispose of the drape according to local protocols after the procedure.
