B. Braun Uro-Tainer catheter maintenance irrigation solutions are a branded range designed for the maintenance of indwelling urinary catheters. The range is used to help clear material that can interfere with catheter function, including biofilm, encrustations, debris and mucus. Different formulations are intended for specific maintenance needs, from routine rinsing to the management of calcification and support for catheter decolonization.

Range overview

The Uro-Tainer range includes several validated variants:

• Suby G for crystal formation and slight calcification
• Solutio R for stubborn or persistent calcification and encrustation
• Polihexanide 0.02% for catheter decolonization, removal of bacteria, and reduction of biofilm-related bacterial colonization
• NaCl 0.9% as an isotonic solution for routine flushing or rinsing and debris removal with a purely mechanical effect
• Uro-Tainer M NaCl for routine rinsing with an additional port for substance administration
• Twin Suby G and Twin Solutio R in two-chamber 2 x 30 mL bag formats for sequential instillations

Variant-specific use

Suby G is suited to situations involving early crystal deposits or slight calcification. Solutio R is intended for more persistent calcification or established encrustation. Polihexanide 0.02% is used where reduction of bacterial colonization and biofilm-related bacterial presence is required as part of catheter maintenance.

NaCl 0.9% provides routine irrigation through passive gravity administration, supporting rinsing and the removal of loose debris without an active chemical action beyond its mechanical flushing effect. Uro-Tainer M NaCl adds an extra administration port for applications where substance delivery is required alongside rinsing.

Format and handling features

The Twin Suby G and Twin Solutio R presentations provide two sequential 30 mL instillations in one two-chamber format. Twin Suby G is specifically described as enabling two flushes without disconnecting the closed system, which may support more streamlined catheter maintenance handling.
